Dental Implants

Dental implants can be an important investment in your wellbeing, providing a permanent solution for missing teeth. Every case is different, depending on patient requirements. An accurate quote can be provided following an assessment of your condition and requirements.

Tooth Whitening:

Treatments are designed to whiten your own teeth without any artificial additions. There is a variety of ways dentists can whiten your teeth:
The dentist may cautiously apply a gel and use some heat from a light source (sometimes a laser is used) to whiten the teeth in a short time. This technique is fairly common and is performed in the dental surgery therefore can be somewhat more expensive than other varieties due to the professional application. Plastic trays are custom-made by your dentist using models of your teeth.

  • Sometimes dentists will ‘kick-start’ the whitening in the surgery with high-strength bleach gels in the trays.
This is followed by home treatments you do yourself using safe-strength gels.
  • Home treatment alone is the most popular and least expensive method.

Home bleaching works very well in most cases, although the result depends on the initial level of staining of the teeth and the type of staining. It is less predictable on teeth that contain some specific discolouration such as those caused by tetracycline intake in childhood. Home bleaching usually takes about two weeks, wearing trays for only a few hours a day, depending on the technique. Home bleaching will not whiten fillings, and it may be necessary to have visible tooth-coloured fillings replaced with ones that more closely match the final tooth colour after whitening is completed.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are a form of replacing missing teeth. If you have missing teeth, one of the options is to replace that space with dental implants.

Basically a dental implant has three parts; a screw that is placed inside the bone, a connector (abutment) that connects the inside world to the outside world and crown that sits on top of the connector.

Dental implants are stronger and more dependable than conventional bridges cemented to natural teeth, or traditional partial or full removable dentures.

However, dental implants may be used to support a bridge or dentures when multiple teeth are missing to provide better support and stability, help maintain the jaw bone, and reduce gum tissue irritation.

implants compared to bridges or dentures?

What if I don’t have any bone for dental implants?

In this case we augment the site with some bone (add bone to the area) before placement of the dental implant. The augmentation can take place on the very same day as the implant placement or 3 months before the implant placement depending on the amount of bone needed.
